Assignment 6
I have chosen to set up a “Weebly” site for my class. My rationale is twofold, I found that I was finding interesting informational and interactive sites that I wanted to share with my class, but felt there was no forum to do this other than in the computer lab. There was also no deeper thinking or collaboration. It was just, go to this site and do/find this….. The second reason for setting up the blog site was to help facilitate a more constructivist forum that my students can contribute to and build upon.
The site is set up to encourage students to add their own sites that they have found to be useful and to encourage discussion through comments the students can make about the different sites. There is also a page for open discussion/comments about questions/comments that my students and/or I may post about an academic concept.
I have students who know very little about how to use computers and how to search for things and others who know a lot. Those students who know their way around searching and posting will be able to access and use the site right away. Those students who need to be guided through the process can work with another student or with me to learn their way around the site and contribute to it.
I hope that by the end of the year my students will have some fundamental skills on how to think critically, collaborate, reflect, and investigate and continue to use these skills throughout their lives.

Please note: I have given permission for one of my students to have access to the site right now. He won’t do any work in class, but is motivated to start looking at and contributing to the site right now. Also, if you want to comment on the site, please comment on the “comments/questions” page.
PS. Kevin posted his critique for my site under the “Comments/Questions” page on my site.
Thanks,
Jane C
