Reflection for Item #11: Resource Package for Twiducate Tool
Outcome addressed: Understand, design and commit to student success in online learning environments
I have chosen the Resource Package for the Twiducate tool as my piece of evidence. It is a package that includes all the information that is required when using a tool in the classroom. There is an example of some activities that will be done, permission letter, and a backgrounder about the tool.
I learned that it is not just throwing together a bunch of activities, but there needs to be some sound reasons for using online tools with my students. It is also really important to make sure that parents have a clear understanding of the tool and why I am using it in the classroom. Furthermore, it is important to make sure the safety parameters are in place in regards to privacy policies and where the tool is housed, whether in Canada or some other country. I now have a very good understanding of making sure I minimize the risks to my students when working online, how to fully inform parents about the tool being used, and the importance of having a detailed school district internet/social networking policy.
Even though I have been teaching for twenty-five years, and thought that I had a pretty well rounded repertoire of knowledge, I have come to the realization that there are many things that can be overlooked. I am a lot more cognizant of the "details" of what I need to be aware of when trying something new, with or without the use of technology in the classroom.

Reflection for Evidence #12: Final Project for OLTD 506
Outcome addressed: Evaluate advantages and disadvantages for teaching, learning, and professional activities
The evidence I have chosen for this reflection is my final project for OLTD 506. The project was a “Soometa” (http://www.metta.io) presentation about my learning during this course. It includes text based, Voki (www.voki.com) , and GoAnimate (www.goanimate.com) materials.
While making my presentation, I struggled a lot with boiling down my learning into a cohesive presentation. I ended up focusing upon how this course has impacted the way I will do things in regards to the use of online tools. It is a guide for me to follow with what I would like to see happen and what I will do to make information readily available for parents and educators.
The outcome for this piece of evidence is meaningful to me as a facilitator in my field, in that it has made me vitally aware of making sure that the information in regards to tools we use and policies that are in place, or not in place, are available for parents and educators. I have been made painfully aware of the frustrations around finding the proper information to guide decisions I make within my classroom around online tools and their privacy policies, and our school policies.
