Artifact #3 Reflection for the Ministry of Education Quality Review: Internal Review GuideOLTD Outcome Addressed:
I chose the "Reflection for the Ministry of Education Quality Review: Internal Review Guide" as my artifact. This piece reflects the outcome in that it is a wonderful tool to assess the quality of what I am doing in my own work place. It touches on key questions that are integral to a quality learning experience. Answering the questions helped me to focus on each facet of my teaching in an in-depth way.
I have learned that I sometimes take for granted that I am doing everything correctly and inclusively. I realize that with a tool such as this, I can redirect my focus not on what I think I am doing well, but on the pieces that I may be missing.
The "Internal Review Guide" can benefit all educators. It is a quick snapshot and reminder to us that we need to do periodic checks of our teaching practices.
- Define quality in education, and how quality in online and blended learning environments can be defined, described, and measured

Artifact #4 Reflection: Lesson Critique
OLTD Outcome Addressed: Develop and design intentional learning activities suitable for the learning environment and the learner.
- incorporation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles; and
- selection of strategies and resources appropriate for the learning environments, learners, and learning outcomes.
I chose the “Lesson Critique” as my evidence piece. This assignment relates to the above learning outcome in that I critiqued one of my own lessons and then used the Universal Design for Learning template to revamp my lesson. I tried to select strategies and resources that were engaging and would foster Blooms Taxonomy from the “remember/recall” to the “create” levels and incorporate “Kolb’s” learning styles with regard to using concrete experiences, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and a bit of active experimentation. I think that this revamped lesson encompassed assimilation, and convergence. I do think that I did touch on some of Siemens’ connectivist ideals.
I have learned, through this assignment, that I have become lazy. I just assume that the students will get motivated by me just saying “do this”. What I thought/think is a good lesson, is not necessarily a good lesson. I need to tap into more of the collaborative, active experimentation, constructing, and reflection of learning.
The “Lesson Critique” activity has allowed me to reassess the lessons I teach and to incorporate avenues for my students to be “life long learners”. I will be including much more collaborative activities; such as, group and partner work on and off line; allowing my students to construct their learning through experimentation with different media/mediums, and reflection upon their learning to help internalize a deeper meaning to what/how they are learning.
